The Food Division provides a testing service specifically tailored to clients producing, dispatching or importing Foods. Laboratory analysis can be used to characterise a food product and to ascertain its quality, reflecting its suitability for human consumption. Apart from determining product characteristics (including nutritional panels), food analysis can cover the determination of toxic metals, artificial colouring, flavouring, preservatives, pesticide residue and microbial contamination. Food products analysed include general commodities, cereals, beverages, dairy products, fish and marine products, spices, vegetable oils and animal fats.
